Psychotherapy

Philosophy

I love using metaphors to describe our experience, as they can help deepen understanding. Psychotherapy to me is a metamorphosis. It is an ongoing unfolding. It’s opening doors to rooms that you at some point were told should better stay shut, because deep down you know you can’t feel fully alive when parts of you are trapped in boxes, no matter how safe or neat they may seem. Psychotherapy is a reclamation and a homecoming, and it can make life more complex and fulfilling by leading us toward the life-long practice of attuning - to ourselves, others, and the world.

Through my studies, and in looking for direction and answers, I found several frameworks that feel helpful in navigating our shared human experience, including humanistic, existential, depth and eco-psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Astrology, and Tarot. But above all I am curious about and awed by the wisdom that emerges from our lived experience, and the self/life that unfolds when we learn to listen to and honor that. In that sense, my work is deeply rooted in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and (neuro) diversity-affirming practices. I also deeply believe in engaging in committed action towards creating the kind of world/reality we want live in - even if that means confronting the ways in which we’ve been complicit in our own oppression, or that of others.

During each session, we will work together to co-create a safe space to explore your presenting concerns. Therapy with me is rarely linear, but very much intentional, and I fully expect you to show up in all of your brilliant humanity and complexity! If you are looking to dive into deep, meaningful work that may lead to increased self-acceptance, compassion, and improved ways of coping that allow you to move through the world with more ease and freedom, then we might work well together!

Consultation

Before we meet for a full therapy session, I invite you to schedule a free 15 minute consultation. This gives us both the chance to see if we’d work well together. During this time you are welcome to ask me any questions you might have, and and if we both decide that it feels like a good fit, we can schedule an intake session.

Clients must be located in Washington State in order to access services.
